Although exer­cise is notably ben­e­fi­cial for dia­bet­ics, there are still risks asso­ci­ated with exer­cise how­ever the ben­e­fits far out­weigh the risks. Since dia­bet­ics reg­u­larly need to keep an eye on their blood sugar and its impor­tant to keep it low­ered, exer­cise can help with this as it (as men­tioned pre­vi­ously) reduces your blood sugar. There is a chance though that if your blood sugar drops to low it can cause hypo­glycemia which is dan­ger­ous for diabetics.

When you do exer­cise (espe­cially in a social sur­round­ing) you should notify oth­ers that you are a dia­betic and what they should do if your blood sugar does go to low and cause hypo­glycemia so to be on the safe side you should make sure you carry with you some­thing con­tain­ing sugar such as soft­drink or fruit juice.

Some signs of a hypo­glycemia onset include the following

  • increased heart­beat (rapid)
  • sweat­ing
  • feel­ing shaky
  • feel­ing hungry

    My hus­band has dia­betes (type one) and has expe­ri­ence pretty much every issue in this arti­cle and has tried all solu­tions as well.
