Use the stairs
When it comes to weight loss, a lot of it is generally common sense. Typically that means that any kind of exercise is good while eating takeaway and food that is generally fatty in content and has a bad reputation such as pizza and burgers is bad.
One of the things you would assume is common sense though that is typically ignored is the stairs. Now, I’m not saying that its purposely ignored but on a day to day basis you would use the stairs (assuming you have any) to go to lets say your bedroom or even the bathroom if your not lucky enough to have on down stairs and naturally you just don’t give your stairs another thought as an exercise platform.
Note though however that a lot of people actually don’t have stairs (naturally those in bungalows) and that is particularly common in Australia and a variety of other countries where houses are not built to save space like the terrace housing scenery of Great Britain. This means that although you cant use the stairs in your house you can still put this into practice at other places you visit such as shopping centers, hotels, work, schools and anywhere else that even remotely has steps of some kind.
Although the stairs doesn’t contribute a huge amount and wont make you an overnight weight loss phenomenon it will contribute overall and gives you the piece of mind that you can eat that cake or drink that soft drink as you know you have worked it off with your stairs climbing.
Typically (and im not sure exactly how accurate this is) you will burn just over three hundred calories for every thirty minutes of stairs climbing you do. This might sound like a lot but if you live in a house with stairs you probably spend a good minute a day going up and down them so even after a month of general house usage you’ve burnt off enough calories to go and drink three tins of cocacola, or if you want to drink more feel free to drink a few hundred tins of diet coca cola clocking in at only one calorie a tin.
So there you have it, by avoiding the escalator or lift and instead forcing your self to take the more tedious staired option you could guilt free enjoy your self a snack once a month.
Enjoy your stair climbing.
