Making a healthy meal
When we think of making a healthy meal, we typically panic and suddenly realise it means having to spend large amounts of time in front of the oven or wherever else you cook your food (maybe a forman grill?). Rethink the previous sentence though as realistically this isn’t what happens when you make a healthy meal. You can easily make something healthy in an appropriate amount of time.
Providing you prepare for making your healthy meal then you should be able to enjoy it after spending minimal time making it as after all eating healthy is not only the delicious option but its also the healthy option and will help you maintain or lose weight.
As I mentioned above in regards to preparation of your meals, its a vital part of making a healthy meal and if you take the time out of your schedule to do so you wont end up eating take away and other junk food or another unhealthy item from your fridge or freezer. If you want to make the most of preparing your meals you should first know what you want to cook which you can achieve by simply buying a healthy meal cook book or looking on the internet.

Another thing to note with preparation is that once you take the first step and actually find the ingredients you need you should take the next step and write a shopping list so you can get the ingredients you need. This also reduces the chance you will buy junk food when out shopping on a spur of the moment ‘thing’ as when your hungry while shopping you tend to buy more and the same usually applies with no shopping list.
Now that we have covered actually going shopping, writing a shopping list and finding recipes and whatnot we need to cover the costs of making a healthy meal. Typically healthy food is associated with high costs and although its kind of unrelated I remember hearing something about in New York an apple is the same price as a happy meal. Wether thats true or not though I have no idea. If money is an issue then maybe try shopping around as sometimes the larger supermarkets such as asda and tesco can be expensive. Infact I remember once going shopping with my grandmother and she picked up a packet of bananas for a pound and being the way I am (If I can save even a penny ill go out of my way to do so) I weighed them and it turned out if you bought the unpackaged bannanas it was only 30p so the prepackaged ones were more then 3x the price and im willing to bet its the same with most other fresh fruit and veg. So weigh your stuff, check prices and shop about and your money will go a lot further.
Something else you can try is freezing portions as making in bulk will be cheaper.
