If you dont know what asthma is, its a lung disease that has side affects such as coughing, shortness of breath and chest tightness among  many things. Typically, asthma is genetic or environmentally predisposed to the condition. Some of the things that could cause an asthma attack to become worse include allegen exposure, respiratory infection, airway irritation, exercise and exposure to a variety of other things such as dust, dust mites or even cockroaches.

Some of the things that can reduce the chance of having an asthma attack and even prevent it all together include bathing your pets on a weekly basis, dont smoke or hang around smokers, wash your bedding regular and other material your regularly in contact with, get a flu injection, be winter wise and avoid high pollen areas. Although learning about asthma isnt exactly exercise orientated, its important as if you know what asthma is and how its caused and how to spot triggers etc you can make sure when you do exercise you can be smart about it and set precautions for when you exercise so you can avoid asthma attacks. The general advice by others suffering from asthma and doctors is to partake in exercise but to be careful and to keep an inhaler on you and the necessary medication. Its also recommended you dont use your inhaler more then three times over the period of an exercise session. Its also recommended if you have an asthma attack you should not exercise within a 24hr duration from the attack.

Another thing about asthma that is commonly known is something called exercise induced asthma which is caused by exercise typically five to ten minutes after you start. It can also be worse in dry or cold air. If you have exercise induced asthma theres three activities you can easily do which include swimming, walking and bike riding along with a variety of other activities which are asthma friendly. Even if you are doing these activities though, you should still keep your asthma inhaler handy.

Just because you have asthma it doesnt mean you cant exercise, as long as you stick to the activities mention in this article and are self conscious about what causes your asthma then theres no reason you cant lead a pro exercise life.
