Dieting with diabetes
As you probably already know, diabetes comes in two different types. There is type one diabetes which is something you cant get rid of and as far as im aware is with you from birth and then there is type two diabetes which can be developed and also removed. Typically it will develop in obese people eating and drinking excessive junk food and will often leave when they stop and go back to a regular diet. Although there is two types of diabetes though, the dieting with both forms of diabetes is more or less the same.
You can usually control your diabetes by simply monitoring what you eat and restricting the negative foods. You dont however have to restrict all foods such as the ones you like providing they are eating in moderation and within certain parameters. Dont get to carried away though as those certain parameters means an overall healthy diet along the same lines of the average healthy(ish) person. Providing you have some self control and make an effort with trying healthier foods you should be fine. I actually know a few diabetes who drink diet coke all day long and seem to enjoy it (caffeine free though).
Diabetes not only carries with it the burden of monitoring what you eat more but it also carries with it an increased chance of heart attack and stroke commonly associated with type two diabetes. To help you reduce these factors you should preferably follow a diet catered for diabetics as this will help reduce any issues along with reducing your blood pressure and the risk that you could end up getting heart disease.
Did you know that if your in the pre diabetes stage (for type two at its complete stage) you can actually potentially combat it completely simply by following a diabetic diet catered to your needs?. Its worth your while.
Believe it or not but dieting with diabetes is actually pretty much based around common sense and simply employs some easy to follow restrictions such as avoiding or at the very most having an extremely minimal amount of caffeinated substances, sugary products, carbohydrate rich products, alcohol, fatty food and the other foods typically labeled as ‘junk food’.
Along with following the above general restrictions you should also implement some things to take note of such as reducing your portion sizes, drinking more water and eating foods that are known to help you ‘detox’. Note though that before following any diet you should consult your doctor if concerned .
Although its hard to get what I mean by this, im going to finish by saying try and make the most of your diabetes by following the contents of this article to make your diabetes as easy as possible to live with.
